I know some of my fellow bloggers are diehard athletes. They run marathons and go on long bike trips. I play golf. That is the extent of my athletic-ness. I never played a sport in high school or college, I never ran in gym class unless they made me. Add to that a sedentary lifestyle and I'm effectively turning into a blob. To that end my spouse and I made a decision that something needed to be done going into winter. This was partially sparked by the fact that golf season is quickly coming to an end, and that we walked a local course last weekend and suffered greatly for it. So, we bought an elliptical. Yes, one who does not exercise is somehow going to find time to do something un-sedentary in the comfort of my own home. So far, I've ridden it for approximately 5 minutes. In flip flops. Every long journey begins with one step....yadda yadda. But can you give me some helpful tips, advice, or even a couple iPod playlists to make this more tolerable? We're working on hooking up a TV, but in the mean time, I'm staring at stuff in our 3rd bedroom that has accumulated over the years, and that's not compelling at all.
